What is gNoms and how does it work?
gNoms is a food and drink ordering platform that lets you place orders from anywhere to schedule a pick up during cafe service hours. gNoms allows you to view the menu, pre-order your food, select your pick up time and pay for fresh, made-to-order meals at a variety of cafes on campus. Once your order has been placed, you will receive an email confirmation with a receipt of order. When your meal is ready, you will be notified via email and/or text SMS.
How far in advance of my pickup time do I need to place my order?
We recommend placing your order at least 30 minutes to an hour prior to your pick up time, but you can order ahead for any time available that day.
How do I receive a text notification when my food is ready for pick-up?
If you enter your phone number while setting up your account, you will automatically receive a text notification once your order is ready. In addition, you will receive an email notification with a receipt when the order is placed and when the order is complete.
What are my payment options?
Credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discovery, American Express), BA gift cards, dept. charge cards, ApplePay and GooglePay.
Where can I find the full nutrition and calorie information for each menu item?
If you wish to see a more detailed calorie and nutrition breakdown, visit the Cafe Bon Appetit website.
How do I locate gNoms using Hi Site?
Navigate to the Hi Site website and log in using your Roche credentials. Once logged in, look at the left panel and find the “Dining” button labeled with a “Knife and Fork”. When you click there, you’ll be able to access gNoms links for all cafeterias, as well as view the cafe specials.
How can I cancel my order after I have submitted it?
If you wish to cancel your order after submitting it, you must contact the Bon Appetit team using this link. Choose “leave a cafe feedback” and select the specific cafe which received your order. They can then halt your order and begin the refund process.
Is it possible to add a comment or customization to items I order?
All items with possible customization will give you the option to select any add-ons you would like and what items you want left out. In addition to this, there is a “special instructions” box available after reviewing your cart and before submitting your order. However, there is not a specific comment box for each item in your cart.
Can I use SSO to log in?
At this time, SSO login is not available.
Why can I not choose the time slot I want to order for?
There is a limited amount of orders available for each time slot. If the limit has been reached, you will need to choose another time slot. You will also only be able to order for a time that the cafe is open. If you try and order something ten minutes before closing, you most likely won’t be able to order.

gNoms Desktop FAQ
Is there a recommended browser to use while ordering through gNoms?
The ideal browser to use is Google Chrome. Other browsers should work, but we recommend using Google Chrome or Edge and avoiding Internet Explorer, as it’s no longer a supported browser.
How do I access the gNoms desktop platform?
gNoms can be accessed using your laptop or mobile device by visiting the Bon Appetit website or the Food Services page on gWiz, which include the cafe-specific links to gNoms. From there you can then create an account and start ordering.
Do I have to be a Genentech employee to order through the gNoms desktop platform?
No. If you are visiting the campus you can set up an account to order through gNoms, or order directly from our cafes.
Where can I find my order number using gNoms?
Your order number will be written on the confirmation email you receive, as well as on the SMS notification if you entered your phone number, and on the notice you receive when your food is ready.
Is it possible to see images of the menu items?
Unfortunately, at this current time, we are unable to provide images of each specific menu item . However, this is a future enhancement we are looking into and have requested.
How do I view my order history?
You will be able to view your order history, up to the past five orders, in gNoms. After selecting the date and time of when you would like to order, your past five orders will automatically appear. From there you can select a past order to reorder for your current order. Items from your past orders that are not currently available will not show up in your order history.
gNoms mobile App FAQ
How do I access the gNoms mobile app?
The gNoms app can be accessed through the Google Play store for Androids or the App Store on your iPhone. In the search bar type “gNoms by NEXTEP”. Once downloaded, you will be able to create an account on your mobile device. If you already have an account on the desktop platform, simply sign in.
Am I able to order from all campus eateries through the same app?
Yes. Once you’re logged in to the app, you’ll be brought to a “Home Screen”. From there, click the blue tab labeled “Location,” and you will be able to choose from the different cafeterias and coffee houses around campus. That location will be saved for the next time you use the application.
With the app, where do I find my order number?
Your order number will be written on the confirmation email you receive, as well as on the SMS notification when your food is ready. Your order number can also be found in the “Order History” tab.
Using the app, how do I tell which options are Vegan and Vegetarian?
Each item will be marked as vegan or vegetarian next to the item name. .
Example: egg bites – vegetarian
- Vegan – The green circle labeled VG will represent the Vegan items on the menu.
- Vegetarian – The green circle labeled V will represent the Vegetarian items on the menu.
In the app, will I be able to change the quantity for my orders?
During the order review process, you will be able to change the quantity of your orders by using the “add” or “minus” buttons.
How do I request a new password using the gNoms app?
Upon opening the gNoms app, on the login screen, below where you enter your password you will find “Forgot Password”. Click “Forgot Password” to receive an email with a link to reset your password. Follow the instructions provided in the link. It may take a few minutes for the email to arrive in your inbox.
How do I order from the Brew in Building 35 or 40 using the app?
Log in to the gNoms app using your credentials. Once signed in, choose either Building 35 or Building 40. When your location has been chosen, at the top of the screen you will see different options for that cafeteria. Listed first will be Brew with a cup of coffee pictured.
In the app, how do I return to the previous screen without canceling my order?
In the bottom right corner there will be an arrow that points to the left. When clicking this arrow you will be able to navigate back to the previous page without canceling your order.
- The “Back” button will return to previous page without canceling order
- The “X” button will cancel your order
- The “Check” mark will navigate you to the next screen
I’ve completed my order in the app and am ready to checkout. The only option is “Add To Order”. What’s next?
When finishing your order, make sure you’ve filled out all the required fields marked with a red asterisk. Once you click Add To Order, it will give you a subtotal in your cart, marked in the bottom left corner of the screen. It will also give you the total number of items in your cart. You will then have the option to add to order or click the next button where you’ll be prompted to give your contact information as well as payment method to complete the checkout process.
Using the app, how do I add items to my existing order?
At the bottom right corner of the screen there will be a “+” symbol. Click that symbol to add another item to your cart.
Can I view my order history using the app?
Yes. You will be able to view your entire order history in gNoms application. After you’ve logged in and are on the home screen, locate the button with three lines in the top left corner of the home screen to open the menu. Then, select the “Account” tab next to the gear icon. t the bottom of the screen you will see the tab labeled “Order History”. From there, you can find all past orders.
